The SSL Policies and Standards Expert is responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating the organization’s SSL/TLS policies and standards to ensure alignment with the latest industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This role requires in-depth knowledge of frameworks such as WebTrust, CA/Browser Forum Baseline Requirements, and browser-specific SSL/TLS policies. The expert will also design and implement risk and compliance methodologies related to SSL/TLS, ensuring the organization’s practices meet evolving security standards

Responsibilities

Policy Development and Maintenance

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive SSL/TLS policies and standards in line with WebTrust principles and CA/Browser Forum Baseline Requirements.
  • Ensure policies reflect current browser requirements and industry best practices.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Design and implement methodologies to assess compliance with SSL/TLS policies.
  • Identify and evaluate risks associated with SSL/TLS implementations and recommend mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure understanding and adherence to SSL/TLS policies.
  • Provide guidance on policy implications for SSL/TLS deployments.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor developments in SSL/TLS standards and browser policies to update organizational policies accordingly.
  • Participate in industry forums and working groups to stay informed of emerging trends and requirements

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in information security policy development, with a focus on SSL/TLS.
  • Proven experience in aligning organizational policies with industry standards such as WebTrust and CA/Browser Forum requirements.

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are preferred.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of SSL/TLS protocols, certificate management, and public key infrastructure (PKI).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements related to SSL/TLS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with risk assessment methodologies specific to SSL/TLS.
  • Knowledge of browser-specific SSL/TLS policies and enforcement mechanisms.
  • Participation in industry groups such as the CA/Browser Forum
